More Good Things

My previous post was actually a prelude to this one.

I did find out last week that I was successful from my last interview. It was a bit hush-hush due to some HR processes that needed to be finalized. So this week I was able to let my peers know.

I have been in my current job for over 4 years and in my current level since 2000. I’ve had 2 other jobs in between and a year off (mat leave). So this change is much needed not only for the pocket but most especially for my brains. I needed to get a new skill. A more marketable one just in case the compnay decides to do another set of lay-offs. I just hope I get to learn enough before they do such a thing.

I’ve mentioned before that I have the luxury of having a 3-day work week and every other week a 4- day. Its a 12 hr day so it compensates for my usual long weekends. Well, that will change now. I am jumping into the 9-5 class of workers. In my case, hours might be a bit flexible but may be longer than 8 hours depending on the work load.

Like with any change comes a lot of stress and challenges. I have readied myself for that. Psyche myself if you will , to be ready for long hours, 5 days of work, 5 days of driving back and forth, 2 days off only and less time with my husband (hey maybe that’s a good thing). I am planning a lot of things with this new schedule. Maybe I can do more things being able to get home earlier than before. Maybe a more routine schedule , say regular gym work-out times, time for extra activities for my daughter, extra time to enjoy long summer days.

Who knows? I’ll try. I look forward to the change.

  1. Congratulations! and goodluck, I know you can do it, ikaw pa. We almost have the same work schedule now, lakwatsa time… hehe.

  2. Thanks Leila…o sige pasyal-pasyal tayo minsan.

  3. Hi Leah!congratulations!!good for you and goodluck to the new change 🙂

  7. Congrats Leah! Now you will have a slightly different work schedule which I know you will eventually adjust to 🙂 What is important is you’d get the job satisfaction and the rest will fall into places 🙂

  8. Woohoo, congrats on the new job. I love your attitude – looking forward to change. You’ll never know unless you try, right? It will surely be stressful at first while you adjust, but after that, I’m sure you’ll be smooth-sailing. Plan, execute, enjoy! 🙂

  9. Change is good it’s like you are reborn again !New things you will encounter and learn will be of great benefits ! Would be nice to see new people, new environment and more challenges 😉 ! All the best Leah !

  10. Congratulations Leah…….By the way ,will you be driving your huby to work ?since u and hubby have two different schedules now. also,is the new position related to the previous?

  11. Congrats on your new job, Leah. It’s good to have other marketable skills that would afford you to switch jobs. Working in the same environ can sometimes bore the heck out of you. I worked for a clothing company for close to 17 years before I finally called it quits and went freelance. At least now I have a more flexible schedule.

  12. Hi,
Congrats on your new job, ma’am….it’s really a good thing to change one’s activity to avoid job boredom..Just take good care of yourself and enjoy your new job!
Btw, I know you tagged me and I haven’t forgotten it..I’m still composing in my head what to write but maybe my next post will be to reply on that 🙂

  13. Changes! That’s the only certain thing in life di ba. Tama si Kathy, you should be congratulated for your positive attitude towards your new job, new hours, new workmates, etc. Pinoys and pinays are very wellknown for their flexibility. Good luck, Leah. Promotion pala. Way to go.

  14. also skills updating eh? mag-aaral po ba kayo uli?

  15. Congrats, Leah! I like the fact that you are looking forward to change–with that attitude, I am sure it will truly be a GOOD change. Cheers!

  16. Hi Leah!
I like your attitude. Not many would relish the idea of getting new skills and be proactive, instead of reactive. Plus changes make their lives go awry. But here you are saying that you look forward to change.
    Way to go! 🙂

  17. Hi there! That’s good to know, I wish for more and more things to come up your way.Congrats!

  18. Thanks Ghee. I’m definitely looking forward to the changes.

Hello Jho. 8-hr work day would be a big change. So do you work close to the mall? Is your time flexible though?

Hi time for sure. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Thanks.

Hi BW..thank you. Adjustment period in the beginning for sure. I certainly hope I’ll get into the routine of things.

Hello Kathy…yeah new people to get to know and a new space for me. Still same company just different work and people. All good I suppose. Thanks.

Hi snglguy..thanks. That’s one of my purpose, to acquire a more marketable job. I’m relieved that I finally landed a new job and boredom will evade me for now. Less blogging time though.

hi Dennis, thanks so much. nice to see you back. And no worries about the tag. Whenever you’re ready.

hi annamanila, That’s true..the only thing that does not change in life is the word itself, “change”..all rest is constantly changing. Thanks a lot.

Hi vince…no I’m not going to study , just a new position. Eventually, I’d like to enroll in courses related to my new job.

    Wish you luck!

  21. thanks Pining.
Yes, the 4 yr rot is the reason I decided to move on. I definitely needed change. Thanks

  22. Congratulations! hope everything turns out good even better.

  23. hi leah! actually i work in a mall. =)

  24. Hi Girlie,
    thanks so much…hopefully it does.

    Hello jho,
wow, do you go shopping a lot then?

  25. Congrats Leah! 🙂

  26. good job! 🙂 congrats!

  27. salamat zelle and linnor

  28. That’s wonderful news Leah. Naku, sisiw pala sa’yo yung mga interview questions. Nahirapan nga ako sumagot e. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll love your new routine. 🙂

  29. Not really.
One good thing when working in a mall is that when you don’t want the food nang nagdadala sa office, you would mentally “stroll” around the mall for any fastfood and ask a utility man to buy something for you. =)
